Medusa's Lament is a Gamelet that puts the player in control of Medusa, who has to petrify the Fat Crows invading her garden.
Gameplay[]
The player controls Medusa with the arrow keys (or alternatively the A, D and W keys, S to toggle sounds) and uses the mouse to aim her petrifying gaze, which can be used by holding down the left mouse button and is shown as blue rays being shot from Medusa's eyes. The point of the game is to turn the crows flying in from both sides of the screen to stone, which makes them fall down and enables the player to stand on them. While there is no set goal, high scores can be achieved by using the crows to climb as high as you can. Falling through the bottom of the screen is an instant Game Over, while touching a flying crow or being crushed by a petrified crow that is falling down will only result in losing a life. The game ends when all lives are lost.
Modding[]
All the graphics used by the game are installed in game folder's the "gfx" subfolder in PNG format and all the sounds and the background music are installed in the "snd" subfolder in WAV and OGG format, respectively. This makes it is possible to change or replace them (and thus change the appearance and sound of the game). Medusa's Lament is also open-source, the complete source being provided in the "src" subfolder, increasing modding capabilities. However, no mods have been released so far.
