After completing the quests The Mimic Whisperer and Crystal Quest (both given by the Mrs. Smith in Southwood) the Magicsmithing interface will be unlocked when bumping into Mrs. Smith. The interface allows the player to select two same-type magic items from their inventory (purple parkas, silver axes, or red amulets) to smith together. The resulting drop will be a golden item with one of the original enchantments randomly chosen (an equal chance of either enchantment) and three skill points. Two skill points are determined by the initial magic items, while the third is randomized. The stats of the item fall within the range of the original magic items, not exceeding the maximum or minimum values.

Magicsmithing usually costs $32 per stat point. For example smithing two Damage 1 Speed 1 axes will cost $128. Smithing two maxed out items, i.e. two Damage 10 Speed 10 axes, will result in the maximum cost of $1280. However, there are certain rare enchantments, labeled in the code as "cursed" or "elite," which will increase the smithing cost. "Cursed" items have a benefit and a drawback (for example, a Violent Axe has +3 damage but -3 Armor), and Elite items have powerful effects which are often "powered up" versions of other enchantments (for example, a Poisoned Axe poisons targets for 2 seconds per hit, but an Ebola Axe, an Elite enchantment, poisons them for 5 seconds per hit.) For every "Cursed" item you are trying to smith, the cost is multiplied by 150%, and for every "Elite" item, the cost is multiplied by 250%. So if you were smithing 2 Elite 10/10 axes, the cost would be 1280 multiplied TWICE by 250% for a cost of $8000.

For detailed info on which enchantments are "Elite" or "Cursed," see the Magic Items page.

The price can be viewed in the description bar by selecting one item and hovering over a second. Once a second item is selected, the interface is exited and the golden item is dropped.

The magicsmithing interface must be unlocked by completing Mrs. Smith's quests again in each Madcap playthrough, unlike crafting talents.
